LEGACY: Tournament named in honour of Ramatsiyi to benefit Polokwane youth

The youth around the gorges of Seshego in Polokwane will be the principal recipients of the newly established Ramatsiyi Moholoa Foundation (RMF).
The posthumous recognition model of the late repute Sowetan sports journalist is the innovation of his younger sibling Moropeng Moholoa with the aide of his two colleagues Mathanya Moeamo and Simon Maeko. All three are the directors of the foundation. The devotion of this noble idea is to preserve the legacy of Ramatsiyi Moholoa and encourage the youth from his hometown to follow in is his footsteps in terms of education and profession. He was passionate and dedicated about his profession.
Ramatsiyi knew all sporting codes from the back of his mind. The RMF would also give opportunities to vendors to sell food and beverages during the tournament. We are also going to employ a number of security personnel to oversee the smooth running of the event. In essence, this will be an economy boost for Polokwane. In his honour, the charity would launch the inaugural Ramatsiyi Moholoa Foundation games.
The spectacle will take place at Seshego Stadium on the 24th (Heritage Day) and 25th of September 2021. We have packaged an exciting different sporting activities starting with 21, 1km marathon at 6h00 am with the winner receiving R2000 , with runners-up 2 nd and 3rd receiving R1000 and R500 respectively.
Second on the programme will be the 10 km run at 6h30 am with the winner claiming R1000 and 2nd and 3rd receiving R500 and R250 separately. And closing the curtain would be a 5km Family Fun Run which doesn’t carry a prize for winners. Participation fee for the 21, 1km race will be R150 and the minimum age is 20 years.
The 10 km contest entry fee will be R100 and the minimum age is 20 years. While the 5km Family Fun Run contribution fee will cost R50 and minimum age is 16 years. Entries will close on the 20th September 2021. And all games will be held under strict Covid 19 regulations. Football lovers would also be represented with four divisions battling it out during the two day exhibition. The U 11, U 13 and U 15 boys divisions and the U 17 girls will play the quarterfinals on Friday and complete the semi-finals and the final on Saturday. Also in the menu will be netball and the aerobics. RMF director Moropeng Moholoa is convinced that the inaugural exhibition will be a success. ‘’We anticipate a successful tournament that would inspire and attract many businesses in the near future.
The aim of the foundation is to carry the lasting legacy of the late fearless journalist’ ’concluded Moropeng Moholoa.
