The partnership between Safa and global technology brand, Honor, as the exclusive technology devices sponsor of the South African men’s senior national team, Bafana Bafana, is overlapping into the 18-area with news that lucky supporters are n line to win travelling packages to the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament in Morocco in December and possibly to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
And what better place to make the announcement than at the launch of Honor’s new 400 and 400 Pro phones at the Kyalami Racecourse on Thursday night.
No wonder the Safa commercial and marketing Manager Errol Madlala was spotting a smile as wide as the Jukskei river when he explained the travelling packagers are set to start with Bafana’s crunch World Cup qualifier against their arch-rivals, Nigeria, in Bloemfontein in September, ushering a new fan experience and honoring them for their unwavering and fast-stead support of Bafana.
Lucky supporters are also in line to win travelling packages to the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament in Morocco in December and possibly to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Safa and Honor consummated their partnership in March this year hailed as a significant milestone in the convergence of cutting-edge technology and sports, ushering in a new era of innovation for South African football.
It was announced the sponsorship underscores Honour’s commitment to integrating advanced technology into everyday life, enhancing performance, and bringing fans closer to the game.
With a remarkable 180% growth rate in 2024 and the milestone achievement of over one million units sold in South Africa, Honor continues to revolutionise the smart device industry.
There are two ways fans can qualify, explains Madlala.
“Anyone that buys the 400 or the 400 Pro that was launched today, they get a chance to win a money can’t buy experience where they are all flown to Johannesburg and then we’ll bus to Mangaung to join Isiwelele to watch Bafana play against our nemesis Nigeria in the World Cup Qualifiers.”:
As if it were not enough, “the further competition then, the second winners they go to Morocco to join us when we try to improve on our bronze medal and win the cup”.
Madlala further hinted there is a more exciting phase three and four of the fans competition, (possibly to the 2026 Fifa World Cup), adding:“Watch this space!”
Among the first to test the new 400 and 400 Pro devices were creators, developers, and the Minister of Communications and Digital Technologies, Solly Malatsi, reflecting the growing intersection of AI, mobile tech, and digital policy.
What sets this release apart is not just what’s included but what’s arriving first. The HONOR 400 and 400 Pro debut Google Cloud’s Veo 2-powered Image-to-Video tool, giving users an exciting way to transform stills into cinematic video clips in seconds.
That old picture of a young gogo in the 70s can now move. It also introduces an industry-first 50× telephoto zoom via the main camera, using AI to sharpen distant details without a bulky lens.
Available now from R12,999 for the HONOR 400 and R17,999 for the HONOR 400 Pro, both devices are stocked at Vodacom, MTN, Telkom, and Cell C. Each purchase includes R8,000 worth of added value: the HONOR Watch 2i, HONOR Choice Earbuds X7 Lite, and an HONOR Choice Powerbank 10000mAh, until July 31, 2025.
