Weekly SA Mirror is a 100% black-owned, BEE Level 1 start-up news outfit with a mission to promote black advancement and strive for an equitable South Africa. It was formed by a small group of experienced black journalists who left the mainstream media due to the contraction of newsrooms and the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020 and 2021. Embarking on a new path, they believed they still had a role to play in the building of a just South Africa.
The Mirror aims to inspire and empower readers to actively engage in shaping their own destinies and contributing to the drive to redress the historical imbalances still dogging South Africa. The publication also strives to assist readers to make sense of a fast-moving world by going beyond the headlines while reflecting on how today’s decisions shape tomorrow’s lives.
