TANK TO PERFORM AT  OPENING OF PRETORIA MALL

GRAND: New shopping centre marks the revival of Tshwane business, entertainment heartbeat…

Durrel Babbs known as TANK known as Durrel Babbs, an R&B singer, songwriter, record producer and podcaster is scheduled to perform at the grand opening of Ndlala Mall in Tshwane on the 02nd of August 2025.

The singer will be flanked by Zonke Dikana, a South African singer, songwriter and record producer at the New Ndlala Arena situated at the Ndlala mall.

The grand opening is scheduled to run from the 02nd to the 03rd of August with TANK and Zonke being the main attractions and supported by other artists. TANK has solidified his place as an R&B icon with a catalog that includes some of the genre’s biggest hits.

His 10th studio album, R&B Money, produced five number 1 singles, including Can’t let it show, I deserve, slow, See through love, and Before we get started.

Tank celebrated the re-release of his first three albums, Force of nature, One man, and Sex, Love & Pain, rekindling his connection with long-time fans and introducing his remarkable discography to a new generation of R&B lovers.

Despite facing the challenge of significant hearing loss, Tank has remained resilient and open about his journey. His tenacity and determination have inspired many, as he continues to create music that resonates deeply with fans. Tank’s perseverance proves that no obstacle is insurmountable when passion and drive lead the way. In 2022, TANK, alongside long-time manager and collaborator J. Valentine, launched the “R&B Money Podcast” through iHeartMedia and Charlamagne.

The show debuted as the number 1 music podcast and has featured an incredible roster of guests, including Jamie Foxx, Babyface, Chris Brown, Dionne Warwick, Ari Lennox, LeToya Luckett, Jon B., Ray Parker Jr., Isaac Carree, and The Whispers.

His global wealth, high profile marriage, and bold philanthropy make him one of South Africa’s most talked about figures. He also had the former Sterland Mall, transformed into a modern mixed-use retail and lifestyle hub. The Mall is attached to Ndlala Oligarch Hotel and apartments.

The grand launch will be hosted at the state of the art Ndlala Arena, a 550 seat tiered venue located within the mall precinct in Arcadia. The mall was originally known as Sterland Mall, this iconic landmark first broke ground in 1963 and has been a central part of Pretoria’s business and entertainment scene for decades.

“With renovations of R53 million in 2012 and an additional R 25 million in October of 2024, we have transformed this historic site into a world-class destination for business, luxury, and entertainment,” says Ndlala.
