Premier Soccer League (PSL) chairman Irvin Khoza has set the tone to propagate progress and competitiveness in the league as the Betway Premiership gets underway for the 2025/26 season this  weekend.

Additionally, Khoza has also called for positive partnership with sponsors and other stakeholders in “relentless pursuit for excellence”.

In his address to the workshop, Khoza outlined, among other things, reinforcing the importance of innovation, collaboration, and the continuous growth of football in South Africa.

The Chairpersons Workshop was held in Johannesburg last week.

The PSL, in partnership with broadcast partner, SuperSport, in Johannesburg this week hosted its annual pre-season workshop in preparation for the 2025/26 season.

The event, now in its fourth year, brings under one roof the league, sponsors, and other stakeholders, to the workshop that serves as a strategic platform to thrash out strategies to strengthen relationships among partners.

Additionally, this also serves as a platform for dialogue and exchange of ideas between the league, broadcast stakeholders, and member clubs, and other stakeholders.

The session focused on broadcasting, commercial innovation, and opportunities calculated at enhancing spectators viewing experience.

The PSL executive committee, senior SuperSport officials, Premier division club chairpersons, and senior club officials, attended the workshop.

SuperSport CEO Rendani Ramovha provided an insightful presentation on the industry, trends, and technological innovation in sports broadcasting, arguing the “meeting of minds” was the only path to achieve success in a competitive environment, staying ahead of global developments – and competitors.

Mark Rowles, Betway Africa’s head of marketing, briefed the workshop on the new Betway Premiership campaign, and the innovations to accompany the plan, expected to be unveiled to the public shortly.

Club Chairpersons were given sight of the campaign’s strategic direction ahead of its public launch.

Khoza said the workshop was an important element to “ensuring that all stakeholders including sponsors sing from the same hymn sheet, and are kept abreast of expected developments.

“We are grateful to the sponsors, and all our partners who participated in the workshop as we carve a path for a successful new league,” Khoza said.

He said such workshops were an important part of the league’s strategy to ensure growth and innovation.

“This reaffirms the PSL’s mission to promote excellence, professionalism, and innovation on and off the field,” Khoza said.

His remarks were complemented by SuperSport CEO Rendani Ramovha, who spotlighted cutting-edge trends reshaping global sports broadcasting, urging stakeholders to embrace technology and lead from the front

Held ahead of the new season, the workshop brought together PSL Executive Committee members, club chairpersons, senior SuperSport leaders, and top-tier officials. Together, they unpacked bold strategies around broadcast innovation, commercial growth, and fan engagement — all with one goal in mind: elevating the beautiful game.

His remarks were complemented by SuperSport CEO Rendani Ramovha, who spotlighted cutting-edge trends reshaping global sports broadcasting, urging stakeholders to embrace technology and lead from the front.

A standout moment came courtesy of Betway Africa’s Head of Marketing, Mark Rowles, who revealed a sneak peek of the upcoming Betway Premiership campaign.
