South Africa has a new international teenage ambassador after 16-year-old Chrizmie Mostert from Newcastle, KwaZulu-Natal, was crowned Teen Model World 2026 in Bogotá, Colombia, becoming the first Miss Teen Universe South Africa titleholder in the Teen category to win an international crown.

The Curro Online learner impressed judges in an international competition that brought together contestants and designers from several countries, adding another milestone to an already remarkable list of achievements despite her young age.

Her latest triumph follows her success as Miss Teen Universe South Africa 2025, earning the right to represent the country on the global stage where she captured the coveted Teen Model World title.

Mostert has steadily built an impressive reputation in the modelling and fashion industries. She was previously recognised as an International Photogenic Icon, winning the Junior Photogenic category in a competition involving participants from eight countries. She also claimed the overall PPMC Magazine Miss Victorious 2024 title and currently serves as an ambassador for Pink Territory Perfume. Yet it is her work beyond the runway that distinguishes her from many of her peers.

Mostert is the founder of the Brain Bloom Foundation, an organisation dedicated to raising awareness of learning disabilities and supporting children, parents, teachers and families navigating these challenges.

Her advocacy is deeply personal.

Living with ADHD, severe dyslexia and dyscalculia, Mostert has transformed her own experiences into a campaign of encouragement for young people facing similar obstacles. She hopes her story demonstrates that learning disabilities need not define a person’s future or limit their ambitions.

The foundation promotes understanding, education and support while encouraging children to embrace their unique abilities rather than be discouraged by their challenges. “Her personal journey has become a source of hope for others, proving that obstacles can be overcome with the right support and mindset,” the statement says.

Outside her advocacy work, Mostert maintains an active lifestyle through pilates, running, gym training, fashion and runway modelling. She credits her family’s commitment to charity and community service for nurturing her passion for helping others.

Her international success is also opening new doors in the global fashion industry. During her reign as Teen Model World 2026, she is expected to participate in major events including Colombia Fashion Kids and Orlando Fashion Kids, expanding her international modelling portfolio while showcasing South African talent abroad. Her competition wardrobe featured collaborations with South African designers alongside creatives from Vietnam and Nigeria.

Earlier this year, Mostert also co-hosted South Africa’s 2025 National Arts and Culture Awards at Sun City, further cementing her growing profile as a young public figure.

Although modelling has brought her international recognition, Mostert says her greater purpose is to inspire young people to pursue their dreams regardless of the challenges they face.

Her journey from Newcastle to an international runway serves as a reminder that determination, resilience and self-belief can open doors well beyond South Africa’s borders.

With a world title now under her belt and a growing commitment to advocacy, Chrizmie Mostert is proving that beauty, purpose and social impact can walk hand in hand.
