REFRESHED: Renault Triber reimagined with numerous exterior and interior enhancements

Sounds like an oxymoron. It is small on the outside, but big on the inside.

What immediately draws you to the facelifted Renautl Triber is its bold new piano black grille, redesigned bumpers (front and rear), new LED tail lamps, silver finish skid plates –  all conspiring to its aerodynamic design with a touch of sportiness.

And just in case you miss it, the  Renault Triber is the second model in the Renault range to boast new Renault identity  – what the manufacturer calls the renault:rethink brand transformation strategy showcasing the new brand logo.

Initially introduced into the market in 2020, the Renault Triber has enjoyed ongoing success, which is largely based on nits incredible space and versatility.

If numbers mean anything to you, the popularity of the Triber model is evident with over 30 000 units having been sold to date locally.

Not only has it become a firm favourite among families where space is foremost importance, but it has also been sought after within the e-hailing space, as an affordable mobility solution.

The interior enhancements include new upholstery options; a completely redesigned dashboard layout.integrated with an 8-inch floating touchscreen display, wireless smartphone replication and  a digital instrument cluster.

Safety has not been compromised either. The new Triber comes with six airbags as standard across all variants, and wait for it, a segment first front parking sensor.

Under the bonnet is a 1.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, available with a five-speed manual transmission or an optional five-speed AMT on the top spec model.

It’s elevated ground clearance of 182mm allows for a comfortable drive, while the roof rails pffer a load capacity of up to 50kg.

Available in three district variants – Evolution. Techno, and Iconic – with three new colour options  – Zanskar, Blue, Grey, and Terracotta Brown – along existing colours.  Overall, the new Triber makes for an appealing and competitive option, what with its significant updates, safety featires, modular seating and spacious interior.

The starting price for the new Triber range is R218 999, with the top Iiconic variant retailing at R269 999.

Rivals include Datsun GO, Suzuki Ertiga etc.
