THE name “LV Messiah” might not ring a bell to many in Mzansi, but this young man is set to be the next big thing in the Amapiano world.

Having burst onto the scene three years ago, he has taken the industry by storm, setting the Amapiano stages ablaze.

And, with the release of his debut single Polo, which he co-produced with DJ Coolerbat featuring Meneer Busta, this young deejay is well on his way to real stardom.

“I am super excited about the release of this debut single and can’t wait to hear the response from my fans. I know they’re gonna enjoy it. This was my way of giving them a taste of what’s to come from the LV Messiah brand,” he says.

His impressive skills as Amapiano deejay have seen him gaining popularity and bookings in both the Eastern Cape and Western Cape. Not only that, he has also shared the stage with some of Mzansi’s Amapiano heavyweights.

Born Luvano Yoyo in East London in the Eastern Cape, the 24-year-old’s love for music was influenced by his father who was an opera singer.

“My dad was a huge jazz fan, and, as a result, I grew up listening to a lot of jazz. The likes of Fourplay, Geroge Benson, Luther Vandross and Michael Jackson were some of the artists we used to jam to at home. It is therefore safe to say that I had a musical ear from a young age already,” he says.

As a youngster, his dream was to become an engineer as he admits he was good at fixing stuff like TVs, radios and cars.

“My father owned taxis and I used to help out a lot in fixing them. But I later fell in love with music, deejaying at community gatherings and learning the craft.”

But Luvano doesn’t hide the fact that he is the product of a broken home and had a tough upbringing – his parents divorced while he was still a teenager and he always blamed himself and even suffered from depression. To add salt to injury, his dad – whom he describes as his hero – passed away, a loss from which he admits he hasn’t healed.

“It’s never easy for any child, especially a boy-child, to lose a father. Losing my father was the most devastating moment in my life. I still needed his guidance in life. But I guess the tragedy in a way made me stronger and to grow up fast, “ he says.

While he is proud to have realised his dream of launching his own debut single, he wishes that his father was around to celebrate with him.

“But I know that he is proud of me wherever he is. I am dedicating this debut single to him and wish that he can shower me with more blessings to release other huge successful albums in the near future,” he says.

Having launched his career as Amapiano deejay in 2021, Luvano’s highlight so far was playing at the Scorpion Kings Tour (comprising DJ Maphorisa and Kabza De Small).

“They had a tour in East London and I was fortunate enough to be part of the line-up. Sharing the stage with both of them was a major highlight for me. These are two artists that I look up to in the industry,” says Luvano.
