They may be wounded, but that’s when they are at their deadliest. With a squad resembling a hospital othoepaedic ward, a limping Tottenham Hotspurs are away hosts Manchester City who come to this EPL encounter with loads of confidence stemming from their remarkable comeback from two goals down to complete a thrilling victory against RB Leipzig in the Champions League on Tuesday.

Pep Guardiola’s side boast a 100% record in Europe, and are undefeated in their last eight matches in all competitions. With European competition now on the back burner – Manchester City will look to wrestle back their advantage in the Premier League having suffered two late draws against Chelsea and Liverpool.

City are in second position, one point behind leaders Arsenal after 13 matches. Unusually, they also have sides breathing down their necks with Liverpool, Villa and opponents Tottenham all within striking distance. Spurs are known for being City’s bogey team with the London side having won FIVE of their last EIGHT meetings, but another upset looks extremely unlikely this weekend

Ange Postecoglou’s side are struggling with injuries. Key players including Rodrigo Bentancur, Richarlison, James Maddison, Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero are all unavailable – leaving Spurs down to the bare bones. Treble-winners Manchester City could have an absolute field day against Tottenham this weekend.

The Citizens have won eight of their last nine on home turf – scoring 26 goals in the process. Running on fumes with so many important players sidelined.

Ange Postecoglou will stick to his brave attacking philosophies, which could leave his side vulnerable against such ruthless and clinical opposition. It will be up to captain Son Heiung-min to lead from the front.

In their last meeting with Tottenham at the Etihad, Man City recovered from conceding two goals in two minutes at the end of the first-half to produce a stunning second 45 and beat Tottenham 4-2 on a memorable night in January this year.

They faced each other in London less than a month later, where they secured a narrow 1-0 win.
