MURATIE’S ANNUAL HARVEST FESTIVAL

Muratie’s Harvest Festival, an annual highlight on wine lovers’ calendars, is nigh and  takes place on March 16 and 17.

The two-day showcase of tranquil and abundant farm living takes place under the ancient oaks that guard this historic wine estate nestling in Stellenbosch.

Visitors are promised enjoyment of Muratie’s award-winning wines to the accompaniment of the Farm Kitchen’s delectable food offerings, while listening to live music. In addition, tractor rides, historic tours of the werf and the cellar, and of course grape stomping, await all wine enthusiasts. The Tasting Room will be offering curated tastings at an additional charge – booking is essential   

Details of the day are: doors open at 10h00; table seating on a first come, first serve basis; bring your own picnic blankets for the lawn area; kitchen opens from 10h00 until 15h30 (selected menu available).

Wellington Family Fest

March 21 sees the official launch of the new Go Wellington Wine Route and its initiatives, including the first Go Wellington Family Festival. The event takes place at the Old Tannery, a charming shopping district developed on the premises of the former Western Tanning & Boot Company of 1871. On offer is the opportunity to sample wares from over a dozen of the Go Wellington Wine Route members, a variety of food stalls, children’s activities as well as live music.

There will be café and cocktail-style seating with umbrellas. Meanwhile, Go Wellington’s new digital platform provides eye-popping foretaste of things to come for those planning to visit the off-the-beaten-track wine-growing enclave. 

The www.gowellington.co.za contains links to a dizzying array of experiences available. These include wine tours and tastings, skydiving, hiking the mountains, trail running and MTB trails; where to buy products exclusive to Wellington; as well as dining and accommodation options to suit every pocket, including family friendly destinations.

Fresh Fine Wine and Food FestivaL

The annual event – Cape Town Fresh Fine Wine and Food Festival 2024 – takes place at Cape Point Vineyards in Cape Town on March 3. Tickets cost R750 a person, and the event will start at 14h00.

The festival offers a refreshing change to the many wine events held in crowded halls and is tailor-made to ensure that guests not only enjoy the day, but that each leaves feeling invigorated and filled with a lust for life. Setting Cape Town Fresh apart from other festivals, is its focus on “freshness” – a vital part of food, wine and life. Great food has to be prepared with fresh ingredients, and life that is not continually renewed with fresh ideas and experiences is a life that soon becomes mundane.

The Cape Town Fresh festival celebrates all that is fresh. It showcases the finest local and international wines with the freshest and most creative food our local chefs can offer. Gin and local craft beer are also on offer throughout the day, whilst live music will entertain and soothe the soul.

Hostex In Joburg

Hostex 2024, takes place at the Sandton Convention Centre from March 3 to 5, is expected to draw hundreds of visitors from the local hospitality industry and the public. Rosebank’s Street Feast

Get ready to groove to the beat while indulging in a culinary feast at the Rosebank Mall’s Street Feast, which takes place on March 2.

Following the resounding success of the inaugural event in 2023, this year’s Rosebank Mall Street Feast promises to be even bigger, bolder, and filled with nostalgic vibes straight out of the ’90s!nStreet Feast turns into a vibrant ’90s extravaganza –  complete with iconic tunes that’ll have patrons dancing in the streets. From the soulful melodies of Jamal Shinobi to the infectious beats of Shelton Forbes, the line-up of talented performers will keep everyone grooving all day long.

A delectable array of culinary delights from a line-up of top-notch food trucks, including Filthy Moustache for savoury goodness, Sumting Fresh for mouth-watering street food, Haloumi Bro’s for a cheesy delight, Whisk Away for dessert lovers and White Cocoa for Halaal friendly Lebanese food. To wash down, there will be craft liquor from renowned breweries and distilleries, including Jack Black and Devils Peak Craft Beer for beer enthusiasts, and L’Atelier’s range of craft gin and tonics for those who prefer a spirited sip.

Organisers promise family friendly fun. Festivities kick off at 10am and continue until 7pm just outside Rosebank Mall, on the lively Bath Avenue in Rosebank.
