FEISTY STELLIES AIM FOR THE GALAXY

PRESSURE: Both teams have struggled to muster devastating form that made them a formidable force…

Coach Steve Barker’s side Stellenbosch, are heading to Mbombela Stadium with apprehension  to face the tricky TS Galaxy in a Betway Premiership fixture on Sunday.

Galaxy have shown little evidence that made them fearless last season when they showed no fear to the opposition.

Tim Sukazi’s team finished fifth in last season  but subsequently lost star players Kamogelo Sebelebele and Lebone Seema to Orlando Pirates  at the beginning of the season. The duo has done exceptionally well in their new club, becoming darlings of the Bucs’ fanatics

“The Rockets” showed class and determination when they were up against Lamontville Golden Arrows during the Carling Black Label Cup a week ago. However, the Mpumalanga side went on to lose the tie 2-1.

Galaxy’s previous two league outings were a 2-1 loss to Magesi FC and a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Pirates.   They are currently eighth on the log from nine matches. Only four points separate the two sides.

Galaxy head coach Adnan Beganovic will pin his hopes on the likes of veteran frontman Victor Letsoalo and new signing Sedwyn George to score goals for his side. The defence will be solidified by young centre back Khulumani Ndamane and his co-defenders will be required to bring solidity into this contest.

Just like Galaxy, Stellenbosch has not displayed the devastating form that made them a force in football. Much was expected from the Western Cape outfit based on their exhilarating form last season.  They finished the campaign in third position, behind eventual winners Mamelodi Sundowns and Pirates, thereby qualifying for the CAF Confederation Cup.

Unfortunately, the “ Stellies” current campaign in the Betway Premiership resumed at a slow pace, only picking up a win after five matches.   Barker’s team is under enormous pressure to produce the goods.

After a humiliating t 4-0 defeat at the hands of Marumo Gallants in the Carling Black Label Cup encounter, the Cape Winelands outfit will probably ring a few changes to the side that was totally consumed by the rampart “Bahlabane Ba Ntwa” team.

Players like midfield general Andre de Jong , the attacking midfielder Sanele Barnes, and midfield cum-striker Devin Titus will be expected to bring a more polished performance. Upfront Barker will have to add more firepower that will include the trusted striking pair Lehlohonolo Mojela and Langelihle Phili.

A fought draw looks like the possible outcome. The match starts at between the two teams.
