ALL NEW ISUZU MU-X: Game-changer assembled in Qgeberha to hit the road in SA in 2022

By Ali Mphaki

The ground is already shaking for Toyota Fortuner and Ford Everest in anticipation of the all-new Isuzu MU-X.

In a nutshell, this is a game-changer. Causing the opposition serious nightmares is that the newcomer is a big step up in comparison to its predecessor.

“It offers class-leading driver assistance technology, new state-of-the-art powertrains, and a luxurious interior designed for maximum comfort for seven occupants,” said Dominic Rimmer, Senior Vice President Technical Operations.

Armed with an arsenal of active/passive safety systems, plus modern connectivity solutions such as a nine-inch touchscreen Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, its cabin is said to feature luxurious fittings and soft-touch surfaces, to give the vehicle a bit more of a premium feel.

Giving the newcomer an athletic stance is the new 18-inch gloss-back diamond cut alloy wheels, along with a gloss black finishes, while new tailamp clusters have been adopted.

And where it matters most under the bonnet is a six-speed automatic transmission (with seemingly no option of a manual gearbox), rear-and all-wheel drive.

All this and more conspire to give the MU-X a sleeker look and helps vehicle yield a better coefficient-of-drag.
