AFTER a terrible car accident last year that left him in a coma, part of his tongue cut and jaws tightened with screws, doctors said he will only start speaking in 2025 and might not sing again.

But today, not only is Mpumalanga-born gospel artist Madoda Ngwenyama able to speak, but has also recorded this remarkable testimony in a song entitled Utsembekile (siSwati for He can be trusted).
Affectionately known as Madoda Dee in the gospel music circles, the singer opened up to Weekly SA Mirror this week about the tragic moment that nearly cost him his life and almost put paid to a blossoming singing career.
“It all happened in October last year when my wife and I were involved in a horrific car crash. How we managed to survive, is still a mystery to both of us. But all I can say is that God always has the final say. Doctors are not above God and that is definitely the biggest lesson that I have learnt from this experience,” he said.
Besides suffering fractures to his jaws and cheek bones, Madoda Dee said one of his lungs was also slightly injured. He spent a week in a coma.
Still reeling from the most traumatic chapter in his life, the singer said it was a miracle that he was able to narrate his story today.
“Doctors told my family that I would only be able to start eating food and talking in 2025. But through God’s grace and faithfulness, my recovery left doctors amazed and wondering what manner of human being I am,” said Madoda Dee.
Immediately after his recovery, Madoda Dee embarked on a mission to record his debut single Utsembekile.
“This is my testimony of the goodness and faithfulness of God. He has healed me completely and allowed me to continue what I love the most – ministering to people through song.”
Madoda Dee said he hoped the song would motivate everyone who was going through some pain and challenges in life never to give up hope.
“If God managed to wake me up from that coma despite all the lost hope, then He will be able to get you out of any situation that you find yourself in,” he said.
Produced by award-winning Mpumalanga songwriter Ndumiso “Papa Ndu” Manana, the song is available on all digital platforms and Madoda Dee is currently on a nationwide promotion tour.
