BLUE: Guests entertained to hearts’ delight in fun-filled event oozing with luxury
By Priscilla Malinga
We may not remember who won the game, but we will remember the experience. Johnnie Walker Blue did it at the weekend.
The venue was Inanda Club, Sandton – a prestigious Polo event – displaying the luxury the brand associates with – from fashion, A-listers and the works, including Super cars. Johnnie Walker is the world’s number one Scotch whisky brand (IWSR), enjoyed by people in over 180 countries around the world.
Since the time of its founder, John Walker, those who blend its whiskies have pursued flavour and quality which is second to none. The event oozed luxury. It was a fun-filled polo event. There was, though, an additional spectacular – a race between a super car and a horse, an event that drew laughs and sheer disbelief.
This year Austin Martin was the official luxury car brand partner. It did not disappoint. Their SUV range DBX won the race against one of the horses, a spectacular got everyone excitable.
Marketing manager Chyv Mahabeer at Daytona brand3 said: “The DBX Johnnie Walker and Dayton have a great relationship and have been doing business for many years and this was the first collaboration with Johnnie Walker and Aston Martin. Daytona is the best place to go when you want to buy a Super car.”
Let us be frank, buying a car at Daytona is not about purchasing a right car; it is but purchasing what speaks to your personality. Daytona released brand new fleet and the best price for an entry level – a cool R5-Million, plus-minus.
The event was dazzling – a celebration of rare craftsmanship, bold fashion, and timeless sophistication. Polo enthusiast, whisky lovers, celebrities, and cultural tastemakers came together to enjoy the day and its activities. Johnnie Walker Blue was in everyone’s palate on the day.
There was also an opportunity to learn about how Johnnie Walker is brewed – free of charge.
The guests were entertained to their hearts’ delight, with the event graced by, among others, fashion designer, Mmuso Maxwell, collaborating with Johnnie Walker Blue Label to dress the brand official Blue influencers, and offering a stunning display of contemporary African design.
Also showcasing their creative flair was BamCollective, known for their bold, avant-garde fashion perspective.
Bringing further star power to the afternoon were Sarah Langa, Natasha Joubert, Siya Bunny, and former Bafana Bafana footballer, Teko Modise, the official Johnnie Walker Blue influencers who embodied the brand’s prestige and style with effortless charisma. Guests were welcomed with signature Johnnie Walker Blue Label cocktails, setting an elevated tone for what would become an immersive journey into the world of Blue Label defined by excellence, elegance, and experiential richness.
“On behalf of Johnnie Walker Blue Label, we are honoured to welcome our guests to an afternoon where legacy meets contemporary luxury.” said Mpimy Mashimbye, senior brand manager of the brand.
More than just a polo match, the Johnnie Walker Blue Polo was a celebration of legacy, culture, and aspiration.
