MEC LENDS EAR TO STRUGGLING DRUG ADDICTS

The Gauteng Department of Social Development recently organised a walkabout by Social Development MEC Faith Mazibuko (pictured in orange sweat)  to promote an anti-drug initiative called “Ke Moja Friday Campaign for Youth” in the West Rand township of Vlakfontein, South of Johannesburg.

Through the campaign, Mazibuko is targeting hotspots riven with substance abuse among youth. While on the walkabout, she spoke to scores to both the young and old who are battling addiction without success and help. She encouraged them to seek professional help as this was the only way to break the vicious cycle, pointing out that there were several government-funded drug rehabilitation centres supporting addicts on their journey to a drug–free life.
