By Ali Mphaki
Not sure if you still single, if yes please join us at the exquisite 74 On Ritief Guest House in Potchefstroom in the North West, Saturday evening February 24.

So reads the invitation for the launch of the Not so Broken Hearts Club, the brainchild of the delectable and single Nomonde Madlomo Mbekeni, CEO of Elegant Class Consulting. Dubbed “a singles event like no other”, the launch will be graced by guest speaker Priscilla Masanabo, the reality TV star and presenter on Channel 157 Moja Love, as well as Dominic Mabaso, sexual wellness advocate, CEO and founder of HunnyBunn.
Masanabo is an experienced hand when it comes to the dating game and lots of people are en[1]amoured by her practical love stories on the popular TV show Gug’Othandayo.
Mabaso, on the other hand, regularly features on various radio stations and his HunnyBunn enterprise provides customers with quality products to bring “their most intimate fantasies closer to reality by Turning Fantasy Into Nostalgia”. Sex toys etc.

Dj-Tman will be spinning the discs. “Ziyakhala strong”(Its Happening), says host Mbekeni, who explains the launch of Not so Broken Hearts is to help educate and empower single people – both male and female – not to look down upon themselves and feel pressured to date by society, family, tradition etc.”
Madlomo, as Mbekeni is fondly known, further elucidates that while some are single by choice (like her) “until we find love again”, the Not so Broken Hearts club is aimed at giving singles a platform and a vehicle where they can be free to be who they are “immersed in an atmosphere of positivity”. She says the club also aims at giving single people the assur[1]ance that “being single is not a crime” and if you have not found the right person don’t lose hope
“Whether you are mending from a recent breakup or just in need to surround yourself with good company this is the event not to be missed.
This event is your passport to an evening of healing, joy, and connection. Healing comes in many forms,” she said.
Judging from the support and excitement so far shown about the launch of the Not so Broken Hearts club, chances are Cupid’s arrows will strike some hearts and sparks will fly come Saturday night.
Theme of the night is black with a touch of red.

A DOG’S DAY FOR BIDEN
COMMANDER: If US President can’t control his dogs, how can he govern a country?
By Ali Mphaki

BIDEN
Why are Dalmatians not considered good at playing hide and seek? Because they are always spotted. Why did the man living in Alaska name his dog Frost? Because Frost bites.
These and more are the jokes about dogs you find as your search the internet, but it is no laughing matter that US President Joe Biden has given his German shepherd, Commander, away after biting Secret Service agents at least two dozen times at the White House and elsewhere.
US newspapers report that Commander was banished from the presidential residence after the 11th attack that was publicly disclosed and happened in the fall, newly released Secret Service emails reveal.
Reports say the roughly 24 incidents between October 2022 and July 2023 are a higher number than previously known, and the emails detail for the first time the measures that the federal agency took to try to keep agents safe from the dog.
Commander is now living with Biden’s other family members. He has been gifted to Biden by his brother and sister-in-law.resident. A source close to the Bidens said ‘they’ve been heartbroken’ over Commander’s attacks.
‘They’ve apologized to those who have been bitten, taken flowers to some. They feel awful,’ the source told CNN. ‘Commander was over-protective, and even though they tried and tried to work on it, they had to let him go live with other members of their family.’
Commander’s biting antics could, as expected, not go unnoticed by the pro-Trump Fox News, in its The Five programme with the anchor asking: “If Biden can’t control his dogs, how can he govern a country?”
Poignantly, asked one Tim Miller: Who’s more important here – the dog or the Secret Service agents?
The dozens of attacks by Commander included an incident in June when the dog knocked down and bit a Secret Service agent so hard that stitches were required. Due to blood on the floor, tours of the East Wing of the White House were shut down for 20 minutes, according to the emails.
The First Lady’s spokeswoman stated that ‘the White House environment simply proved too much for Commander’ In a June 2023 email, an unnamed unnamed assistant special agent overseeing the Secret Services’ Presidential Protective Division told agents they ‘must be creative to ensure our own personal safety’.
‘The recent dog bites have challenged us to adjust our operational tactics when Commander is present – please give lots of room,’ wrote the assistant special agent.
First Lady Jill Biden’s spokeswoman, Elizabeth Alexander, stated that ‘despite additional dog training, leashing, working with veterinarians, and consulting with animal behaviorists, the White House environment simply proved too much for Commander’.
Commander is Biden’s second dog to be sent away. His German shepherd Major was also removed from the White House after multiple biting incidents.
