Polokwane is gearing up to host one of the country’s most anticipated youth empowerment events as the 7th Annual Miss Teen Universe South Africa and Miss Pre-Teen Universe South Africa take centre stage from March 20 to 22.

The three-day spectacle, to be held in Limpopo’s capital city for the second consecutive year, marks a significant milestone for the organisation, which traditionally hosted the pageant in Durban. The growing partnership with Polokwane Municipality has firmly positioned the province as a new home for one of South Africa’s leading youth development platforms.

National director Ntombi Gumede said the return to Polokwane signals growth and a new chapter for the brand.

“It feels incredible to be back in Polokwane,” Gumede said. “The brand has grown beyond expectations. We’ve expanded across Mzansi with a powerful vision — to reach every young girl with potential and give them a platform to shine.”

Major Sponsorship

In a landmark development, Aquamenti SA has signed on as the Official Headline Sponsor under a long-term agreement. The partnership is centred on shared values of health, wellness and youth development, and will see the brand integrated prominently into the national platform.

The pageant has also secured a strategic international partnership with a UK-based skincare brand specialising in acne and youth-focused skin solutions. The collaboration aims to promote confidence, self-care and healthy skin among teen and pre-teen participants through product support and educational initiatives.

The programme begins on March 20, with the arrival of finalists and a strong community outreach component. Activities include a school shoe donation drive and a charity netball match at Ditsepu High School — reinforcing the pageant’s commitment to giving back.

On March 21, Polokwane will host the vibrant “Hello Polokwane” Fashion Show, celebrating traditional attire and local designers in a showcase of heritage and creativity. The preliminary judging round will follow.

The event culminates on March 22, in a grand finale production powered by 802 Media, where South Africa’s next teen and pre-teen queens will be crowned in what organisers promise will be an unforgettable evening of glamour and entertainment.

Miss Teen Universe South Africa continues to position itself as more than a beauty competition. Winners are selected not only for confidence and talent, but for their capacity to make meaningful social impact.

The current reigning queen, Chrizmie Mostert, has used her title to launch the Brain Bloom Foundation, raising awareness about ADHD, Dyslexia and Dyscalculia, and advocating for greater understanding of learning challenges among young people.

The organisation works closely with its official NPO, Raising Future Leaders Siwugoba Usemanzi Foundation, ensuring year-round youth development programmes reach communities nationwide. Finalists and reigning queens also serve as youth ambassadors for the South African Red Cross Society.

Historic shift

The 2026 edition introduces a groundbreaking change in governance. For the first time, the organisation has opened opportunities for Provincial Directors, expanding leadership structures and making history as one of the first teen pageants in South Africa to adopt this inclusive growth model.

This will also be the final year in which delegates are directly scouted nationally, as the organisation transitions to a provincial selection system in future editions.

“Judges have an incredibly tough task ahead,” Gumede added. “The level of preparation this year is extraordinary. Our outgoing queens have set the bar high, and the next titleholders must be ready to lead, inspire and serve.”

Following last year’s star-studded hosting lineup, organisers have hinted at surprise hosts and entertainment for the 2026 edition.

As the countdown begins, Polokwane prepares to welcome contestants, supporters and stakeholders from across the country for what promises to be more than a pageant — but a national celebration of young excellence.
