Crucial game: Kaizer Chiefs aim to win and break into top eight bracket at Polokwane City’s expense
By Sports Reporter
Kaizer Chiefs will play their final match of the 2024/25 Betway Premiership season this coming Saturday when they host Polokwane City FC at FNB Stadium for their 28th encounter of the campaign. The reduced fixture total is due to the expulsion of Royal AM from the league earlier this year.
This game is crucial for both teams; Chiefs aim to win and break into the top eight bracket after missing the mark last season, while the visitors strive to maintain their position within the top half of the log by avoiding defeat.
Currently, Amakhosi sit ninth on the log with 31 points after drawing with Sekhukhune in Polokwane on Saturday. Rise & Shine occupy seventh place, on 33 points, following their 2-0 loss at home to Cape Town City over the weekend. Both teams have played 27 league matches this season.
Coach Nasreddine Nabi will be pleased to welcome back defenders Inacio Miguel and Bradley Cross from suspension. However, the team will miss the services of Pule Mmodi, who received a red card in the previous match.
A big solace for Nabi, however, is the availability of
Glody Lilepo who has made a big impression with the Amakhosi faithful since arriving at the Club during the January transfer window, scoring some spectacular goals, including the equaliser in the 1-1 draw against Sekhukhune United this past weekend.
The DR Congo international has adapted and is happy to score and believe he can still give more.
“I think I have adapted pretty well, although there’s much room for improvement. I have followed SA football for many years and played multiple times against Mamelodi Sundowns in the CAF Champions League when I was playing for Al-Hilal in Sudan, so I knew where I was going when signing for Chiefs,” speaking to kaizerchiefs website.
As a heartfelt thank you for their fans unwavering support this season, Chiefs are throwing an exciting party just for our faithful supporters on match day. The festivities kick off at 12:30, featuring live performances from talented artists and DJs, including Ms Cosmo, Jelly Babie, DeeJ Yamang and many more, all brought to you by SAB and Kaizer Chiefs.
To keep the celebrations going, supporters attending the match will have a special chance to take photos with the newly won Nedbank Cup trophy. Make sure to arrive early at the stadium to be part of this memorable experience.
Kick-off 15:00.
