The 29th Annual South African Music Awards, held at the SunBet Arena at Time Square in Pretoria on November 18, provided their usual pizzazz and fanfare amid a live TV broadcast. On the far West Rand, music fans converged on the HughFest for a doze of nostalgia in celebration of 10 years of the existence of this event, which honours the late legendary trumpeter Hugh Masekela at Nirox Sculpture Park annually. Elsewhere, FIFPRO – an association representing 66 professional footballer associations worldwide – held its general assembly in Cape Town from November 21 to 24, to align on strategy and engage in transparent, robust discussions about the future of the organisation within the football landscape.
