Wines of South Africa (WoSA) is to host the triennial CapeWine, the country’s largest and most prestigious wine trade show, at the Cape Town International Convention Centre from September 10 to 12.
As the flagship event for South African wine, the event will showcase the richness and diversity of South Africa’s wine industry to an international audience of trade professionals, media, and enthusiasts.
The event is expected to attract scores of local and international wine personalities from 60 countries during the three days of seminars, exhibition and bespoke excursions to the winelands to experience the wonder of its wine routes.
First hosted in 2000 with 100 exhibitors, CapeWine has spanned 10 editions to become renowned for its extensive showcase of over 400 South African wine producers.
It will also offer a host of immersive experiences, and be exposed to South Africa’s different wine regions, discover rare varieties, meet talented winemakers, and engage with groups of like-minded enthusiasts.
Multinational courier giant DHL Express and Hillebrand Gori – a company of DHL, have joined forces as the headline sponsors of the event, showcasing their commitment to supporting the growth of South African wine globally.
WoSA is the official trade association responsible for promoting the South’s wine industry, focusing on fostering growth in wine exports and positioning the country as a leading wine destination.
This time around, the theme of the CapeWine 2025 is “Our Warmest Welcome”, which has been chosen by the organisers to encapsulate the spirit of South Africa’s wine industry, and because “it is not only about the wine itself, but the people who produce it”.
The main objective is to allow trade professionals from around the world to connect with the diverse individuals shaping the wine industry.
As part from the mission to reinforce South Africa’s image as a prime wine destination, CapeWine is a platform that gives visitors the opportunity to:
• Connect: build meaningful relationships, whether through conversation, shared meals, or a glass of wine.
• Be inspired: experience the innovation and excellence behind South African wines, renowned for their quality and diversity.
• Plug in: engage with winemakers, farmers, sommeliers, and others to exchange stories that reflect the heart of the South African wine industry.
Wines of South Africa CEO Siobhan Thompson says: “This tenth edition of our flagship trade event promises to be one of the best yet. 25 Years after the first CapeWine was launched in 2000, it has grown exponentially and the show as we know it today, has evolved to truly reflect what the South African wine industry is all about: the phenomenal wines that we produce, our wonderfully warm people, the dramatic and spectacular landscapes and the overall richness of our culture.
I look forward to welcoming trade from around the world to join us for what will be an unforgettable experience”.
The showcase is expected to attract trade and media representatives from over 60 countries, raising the South African wine industry’s global profile.
