TOKARA SCOOPS BEST NEW WORLD WHITE BLEND ACCOLADE

Tokara Director’s Reserve White 2020 was recently crowned best New World White Blend, achieving the feat of being the highest scoring wine in its class from the 2023 Global Fine Wine Challenge.

The flagship white of this acclaimed family-owned Stellenbosch wine estate, Tokara Director’s Reserve White triumphed over blends from six New World wine growing nations in this international wine competition hosted annually in Australia.

Tokara’s flagship red blend, the Director’s Reserve Red 2020, also excelled with a Gold medal in this illustrious line-up.

Evolving from the Tri-nations Challenge founded 20 years ago, the Six Nations Global Fine Wine Challenge is the only competition dedicated exclusively to showcasing the best of the best New World wines from the USA, Canada, Chile, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa.

Tokara winemaker Stuart Botha describes the Director’s Reserve White 2020 , a classic Sauvignon blanc/Semillon blend, as having “an amazing clarity and depth”, complemented by hints of passionfruit and pink grapefruit that intermingle with cassis and freshly toasted brioche.

The App, called Conservation Champion Wine Farm Guide, is available on Android and iOS, and enables users to explore the exciting wine and nature-based ecotourism activities at over 55 WWF wine farms that collectively own 43 000ha of land in the Cape Winelands, of which more than half is conserved as a pristine part of the Cape Floral Kingdom.

It is a must-have for locals, tourists, wine enthusiasts and nature lovers seeking to experience the Cape’s unique floral kingdom, the smallest of the six plant kingdoms in the world and which is considered a biodiversity hotspot, boasting over 9000 species, of which 70 percent are only found in this geographical area.

With a user-friendly interface, the app provides access to a diverse array of opportunities to connect with nature in this magnificent location through immersive and sustainable adventures ranging from walking, hiking and mountain biking trails, to bird watching, eco-lodging, picnics, nature drives, and ‘vinisafari’ experiences.

The Champion Wine Guide App’s unique features are:

  • Explore Wine Farms: Browse through detailed profiles of over 55 recognised wine farms, each a steward of the environment.

  • Wine Tasting Experiences: Plan your wine-tasting adventures with insights into the unique offerings of each farm.
