SINN LXX Restaurant in Sandton hosted a number of celebrities in the acting and filming industry and media to celebrate Don Julio’s Oscar’s VIP celebration.

Don Julio tequila, a premium spirit renowned for its rich heritage and unrivalled craftsmanship crafted in Mexico, embodies a commitment to quality and authenticity, setting a standard for tequila connoisseurs globally. The red carpet event replicated a true reflection of the glitz and glamour of the Oscars.

Set against an atmosphere of refined luxury and sophistication, the event delivered an unforgettable blend of Hollywood glamour and the bold essence of African storytelling.
From the moment guests arrived, they were immersed in a world of prestige, greeted with the signature elegance of Don Julio 1942 tequila amid live entertainment.
The red carpet was a breathtaking showcase of style and star power, with South Africa’s elite gracing the evening in exquisite couture. Among the illustrious guests were The Bomb Shelter Production’s executive, Angus Gibson, Adulting actress Samkelo Ndlovu, Soon Comes Night actor Kwenzo Ngcobo, 2024 honouree Nambitha Ben-Mazwi & Youngins actor Lebohang Lephatsoana.
The highlight of the evening was a heartfelt tribute to Desiree Markgraaff and Xolile Tshabalala, two extraordinary figures who have left an indelible mark on the South African film and television industry. Desiree Markgraaff, managing director of The Bomb Shelter Productions, has played a pivotal role in shaping some of the country’s most iconic television content, including Yizo Yizo, Zone 14, Jacob’s Cross, Isibaya, and Ayeye.
Xolile Tshabalala, an acclaimed actress, has captivated audiences with her performances in 4Play: Sex Tips for Girls, Secrets & Scandals, Blood & Water, and Blood Legacy.
The evening featured a robust panel discussion on the future of African film and television, hosted by renowned actress Zola Nombona. Industry heavyweights, including Showmax Youth Content Commissioning Editor Kabelo Moremi, The River actress Shannon Esra, alongside Markgraff and Tshabalala provided insightful discourse on the evolution of African storytelling and its global impact.

On the eve of the prestigious Academy Awards, internationally acclaimed composer, performer, and Grammy Award-winning producer Lebo M embraced a moment of both celebration and remembrance after his nomination. He reflected on the profound influence of his late mother, HRH Magogo Nomvula Grissel Mboni Morake, who recently passed away at the remarkable age of 100.
To honour her extraordinary life and legacy, Lebo M hosted an intimate South African Pre-Oscar Dinner at the iconic Mr Chow in Beverly Hills, joined by his co-executive producers, Sibo Mhlungu and Anele Mdoda, the esteemed filmmakers, and cast members.
“This moment is deeply personal for me,” said Lebo M. “To be standing on the brink of what could be another historic milestone in my career, while also celebrating the life of the woman who shaped me, is profoundly emotional” He added. He remembered how his mother was his greatest inspiration with her wisdom, resilience and grace, guiding him through every note he has ever composed.
The evening was a powerful prelude to what promises to be an unforgettable night for South African cinema and storytelling on the world’s biggest stage and the Don Julio guests were given an opportunity to enjoy the Oscars while eating SINN XXL’s delectable menu and sipping cocktails and wallowing in the Don Julio tasting experience. The celebration continued well into the night, ignited by electrifying sets from South Africa’s biggest DJs, including Amapiano heavyweights Kelvin Momo and Kabza De Small.
