Hosted by Jozi Entertainment and led by its founder, award-winning music executive Lebo Mlangeni, the workshop seeks to equip aspiring artists, producers, songwriters and entertainment entrepreneurs with the skills, knowledge and industry connections needed to build sustainable careers in the music business.

The initiative, powered by CAPASSO and supported by the City of Ekurhuleni and Gauteng Department of Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation, will be held at the Dumisani Masilela Theatre.

While talent remains the foundation of any successful music career, industry experts say understanding the business side of entertainment is equally important. The workshop will therefore focus on key areas such as music rights, publishing, branding, marketing, distribution and career development.

Organisers say the event is designed to bridge the gap between raw talent and professional success by providing access to experienced industry leaders and decision-makers who have played a significant role in shaping South Africa’s music landscape.

Jozi Entertainment has established itself as one of the country’s leading independent entertainment companies, earning multiple industry accolades and achieving multi-platinum success while developing local talent. Through the workshop, the company hopes to share the lessons and experiences that have contributed to its growth.

Speaking ahead of the event, Mlangeni said the workshop is about creating opportunities for young creatives who often struggle to access the music industry.

“The future of South African music lies in the hands of the young creatives coming after us. We want to give them more than inspiration – we want to provide practical knowledge, real opportunities and access to people who can help them grow,” he said.

“Every successful artist started somewhere, and this workshop could be the beginning of a life-changing journey for someone sitting in that audience.”

Mlangeni added that investing in young creatives is vital to strengthening South Africa’s cultural and creative economy.

“There is incredible talent in our communities. Sometimes all it takes is one conversation, one lesson or one opportunity to change a person’s life. We want young people to leave this workshop believing their dreams are possible and equipped with the tools to pursue them.”

Beyond skills development, the workshop also serves as a platform to celebrate creativity, ambition and the transformative power of education. Organisers say it reflects a shared commitment among stakeholders to support youth development and cultivate the next generation of South African music stars.

Members of the media, aspiring artists, music enthusiasts and industry stakeholders are encouraged to attend. Attendance is free and open to the public.
