Award-winning rapper Cassper Nyovest and broadcaster Zanele Potelwa will co-host the 32nd South African Music Awards (SAMA32), set to take place at the Sun City Superbowl in North West on 15 August 2026.
Sponsored by the Motsepe Foundation, this year’s awards carry the theme “The Future Sounds Like Now Now” and mark the Homecoming Edition of South Africa’s premier music awards.
SAMA spokesperson Unati Gwija said Cassper Nyovest was the ideal choice to headline the event, describing the North West-born artist as the perfect ambassador for the Homecoming Edition.
“Cassper is the best person to usher in this special edition of the SAMAs, while Zanele embodies the spirit of the theme, The Future Sounds Like Now Now,” Gwija said.
Nyovest said he was honoured to return to his home province for the prestigious event. “I’m very excited to be going home and reuniting with the SAMAs in such an incredible way,” he said.
“It’s an honour to follow in the footsteps of legends like HHP and Kabelo Mabalane (Bouga Luv), who have also hosted the SAMAs.”
For Potelwa, hosting South Africa’s biggest music awards marks another career milestone.
“It feels unbelievable, and all thanks to Jesus Christ. My heart is pumping custard because this is a dream come true,” she said.
Backed by partners including the Motsepe Foundation, the North West Departments of Arts, Culture, Sports and Recreation and Economic Development, Environment, Conservation and Tourism (DEDECT), SA Tourism, the SABC, SAMPRA, SAMRO, CAPASSO, RiSA, RiSA Audio Visual (RAV), MNM Funerals and Settlers Media, SAMA32 has grown into more than an awards ceremony.
The event has become an important platform for destination marketing, showcasing the North West Province as one of South Africa’s leading cultural and tourism destinations.
Organisers say this year’s awards will celebrate the diversity, creativity and global influence of South African music while inviting visitors to experience the province’s rich heritage, scenic landscapes and hospitality.
