Twelve women have been named as finalists for Miss South Africa 2026, setting the stage for a November 14 showdown at the Sandton Convention Centre, where leadership and community impact will share the spotlight with the crown.
Selected through an assessment of their leadership potential, communication skills, sense of purpose and commitment to their communities, the finalists enter a competition shaped by this year’s theme, Imbokodo, which celebrates resilience and determination.
The Top 12, listed alphabetically by first name, are Alia Khan Koumantarakis, Amogelang Bunu, Bonolo Marang Motau, Cwenga Koyana Kotu-Rammopo, Katlego Malebye, Lesego Khumo Nyathela, Makhosazana Azana Masango, Ndivanga Muravha, Palesa van Rooyen, Simone Nonhlanhla Tshituka, Tiyani Makamu and Zoalize Jansen Van Rensburg. While only one will claim the title, all 12 will serve as ambassadors for Empower Youth Africa (EYA), the organisation’s impact platform.
Through the initiative, the finalists will contribute to programmes and partnerships aimed at opening opportunities for young people across South Africa. Its five focus areas are technology and digital inclusion; entrepreneurship and enterprise development; education and future skills; health and wellness; and civic leadership and Pan-African collaboration.
The ambassador roles give each finalist a shared responsibility beyond the competition: helping advance initiatives intended to make a practical difference in young people’s lives.
According to the organisation, the Imbokodo theme emphasises leadership that reaches beyond personal achievement to create a positive impact on others. It also reflects the pageant’s focus on giving women a platform to champion causes beyond their pursuit of the title.
Audiences can follow the contestants’ preparations through The Mandate, the pageant’s documentary series. The series offers a behind-the-scenes view of the challenges, experiences and personal growth that accompany their journey to the finale.
The crowning ceremony will be broadcast live on Mzansi Magic, DStv channel 161, from 19:30. Organisers expect guests from business, government, civil society, media, sport and the creative industries.
Tickets start at R450 and are available through Ticketpro, as well as House of Nala outlets at Sandton City and Oceans Mall.
