Hard work, dedication and commitment has resulted in the elevation of a popular Thobela FM presenter to a new position.Isaac Masilo Mashila has been promoted to the position of senior producer – mandate, becoming the first person to hold the newly-created position. His promotion takes effect from October 1.
Mashila, who started his career at a community radio station before joining the Polokwane-based public broadcasting station, has had various roles in the radio industry and built himself a phenomenal career in the broadcast space. He has always been actively involved in content creation and believes firmly in the value of solid research.
“It is extremely important to understand what an audience needs and expects. In my previous roles, I have always sought to understand the target audience better,” he explains.
Mashila brings to Thobela FM 10 years of experience to his new position, with a diverse background spanning several industries. “I am looking forward to building on the achievements of the station and adding a few ideas of my own. I am confident that with the support of my management team and our vibrant colleagues we will, through conversation, connect more with the radio audience.”
“I’m truly honoured to be afforded this opportunity. To me this shows the level of confidence that the leadership has on me,” he says.
The station has been stable for the past three years, maintaining its three million listenership mark. And the biggest task now is to ensure that it maintains that standard. “I look forward to this exciting journey ahead of me, particularly because it comes at a time when I am celebrating ten years in the radio industry,” Mashila adds.
Over the years, Mashila has garnered the experience and an all-round view of the industry required to fill his new role as Senior Producer – Mandate.
