JOZI’S POSH DRAM SHOW

      After a three-year pandemic break, the annual the Only Whisky Show is finally back for its fourth year!

      The show, which takes place on July 28, will showcase over 200 premium whiskies, some including new expressions to be presented by producers and brand ambassadors, all the while learning more about your favourite drink. The venue is The Deck @ Wanderers, Illovo.

      Tickets cost R600 a person, and are strictly limited to 500 people a night and allow you to taste as much as you can responsibly drink. Doors open at 6pm and close at 10pm

BLOEM GOES WILD                    

      Food and wine will be galore at the annual Wildskosfees, which is taking place in Bloemfontein tomorrow.

      Twenty wineries are scheduled to attend. The venue for the event is De Oude Kraal Country Estate, which is situated 35km south of Bloemfontein on the N1. Activities include live music. The outdoor event starts at 11am.

      Ticket prices are R550 per adult – VIP tickets R950 per person, includes exclusive food & wine pairing in the hall. Kids (six to 12-year-old) pay R150; (13 to 17) R250.

TASTING ON THE RIVER BANKS

      The Cellar Rats Club will host its Winter Wine Festival on the Riversands Farm Village in Fourways on July 3.

      Visitors to the show will enjoy an afternoon of wine tasting along the riverbank. A host of producers will present a variety of wines, bubbles, craft gin and deli products.

      Kids welcome as an entertainment area for them will be available. No cooler boxes, picnic baskets or braai’s will be permitted. Tickets start at R240.

TASTING ON THE VAAL  

      2022 Vaal Wine Expo is scheduled to be held at its usual home – Stonehaven on Vaal – on the banks of Vaal River in Vanderbiljpark.

      Scores of premier wineries will participate in the show. Tickets costing R250 a person are limited to 1 000 this year. Ticket includes unlimited tasting, a choice of 30-minute Vaal River Cruise voucher or R50 food voucher. There is access to the Stonehaven on Vaal River and bar. Sales will open from June 30.

KNYSNA WINE FEST RETURNS

      For the first time since Covid-19 outbreak, the Knysna Wine Festival 2022 is back to entertain its droves of loyal fans. It takes place on July 8 to 9.

      It will take place at the Premier Hotel Knysna, George Rex Drive, Hunters Home. Tickets cost R180. The festival will celebrate its 15th anniversary at this year’s Knysna Oyster Festival.

      Some 40 wineries will converge on the show to offer unlimited tastings of more than 200 varietals. In addition to wine, guests can enjoy craft beer, Gin, various liqueurs, whisky tastings as well as a taste of some South African artisan craft cheeses and olive oils.

WINE & WHALES

      The annual Whales Music 2022 takes place in the southern Cape town of Bredasdorp from June 24 to 26.

      The venue is De Hoop Collection on the Garden Route. Organisers say guests can book for this weekend on a dinner, bed and breakfast basis which includes: wine and cheese tasting and high tea.

      The De Hoop Collection just outside Bredasdorp provides exclusive accommodation and nature-based experiences in one of the largest areas managed by CapeNature, the De Hoop Nature Reserve.

 KAROO’S WINE JAMBOREE            

Calitzdorp ExPRESSed will whip up a carnival fiesta in the Klein Karoo town between June 17 and 19.

Organisers promise a weekend filled with fun, entertainment, stalls, wine tastings, music and sightseeing. Show activities will occur across 31 venues, which include award-winning wineries, delectable restaurants, quirky pubs, shops and bakeries.  Tickets, available for purchase on Quicket and valid for all 3 days, cost R190 a person.
