This is the sixth and final installment in the Jurassic era of films. In true go-big-or-go home fashion, it’s an all-out affair. Alongside the main cast, Oscar-winning Laura Dern will feature with Jeff Goldblum and Sam Neill, who will be reprising their signature roles from the original Jurassic Park franchise. Four-years after the destruction of Isla Nublar, dinosaurs now live and hunt alongside human beings all over the world. While some humans accept and embrace the change, most live in fear of what this could mean for humanity in the coming years.
The movie follows two converging storylines. The first being that of Owen Grady (Chris Pratt) and Claire Dearing (Bryce Dallas Howard) as they struggle to find their kidnapped daughter Maisie (Isabella Sermon), in a dinosaur-infested world. The second one follows Dr Alan Grant (Neil), Dr Ellie Sattler (Dern) and Dr Ian Malcolm (Goldblum) on their mission to stop a genetics company trying to do wrong with dinosaur DNA.
The best thing about Jurassic World Dominion is having the old and new characters coming out and interacting. Having recently watched all of the previous Jurassic franchise films to date, I was super excited to hear that the Legacy cast would have a major role in this installment. There’s always something to be said when the OGs and the new kids on the block come together to make a kick-ass team. We also finally get to see the dinosaurs running wild in the concrete jungles of the world. An aspect that both the Jurassic Park and Jurassic World film series had always alluded to but never fully explored, until now.
As in true Jurassic style, there’s a good story paired with a lot of eerie sequences involving dinosaurs. The close calls and the constant thought of “is this where a main character dies?” will have you on the edge of your seat with suspense. And if you’re a big fan of dinosaurs you’ll get to see a whole lot of them. What more can you ask for?
The director, Collin Trevorrow, has previously worked on Jurassic World and Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, for which he achieved mainstream recognition. Trevorrow was also co-writer and director of The Rise of Skywalker.
So, if you’re a fan of the Jurassic franchise or just in the mood for a story with a lot of nail-biting action, this one comes recommended.
