PROTEAS UP FOR REVENGE
The wounds of a painful loss at the ICC T20 World Cup final will still be fresh for South Africa as they face their conquerors India in a four-match T20 series at home starting on Friday.
More than four months may have passed since India’s comeback victory, which sealed their second T20 world title in Barbados, but the South African side will be hurting for letting slip what could have been their first ICC World Cup trophy. A lot has changed since June 29, with a number of Indian stalwarts making their exit from the game’s shortest format and the champions continuing a near-perfect winning streak in T20 internationals under new captain Suryakumar Yadav.
What’s the full match schedule of the India-South Africa T20 series?
Match 1: Friday, November 8 at 5pm (15:00 GMT) in Kingsmead, Durban
Match 2: Sunday, November 10 at 4pm (14:00 GMT) at St George’s Park, Gqeberha

TS GALAXY NEW COACH
Following the surprise resignation of coach Sead Ramovic on live television earlier this week, TS Galaxy chairman Tim Sukazi has since confirmed his replacement. The Serbian called it quits after their 1-1 draw away to Stellenbosch FC in the Betway Premiership on Wednesday evening.
Speaking on Metro FM’s Sports Night Amplified with Andile Ncube, Sukazi revealed assistant coach Adnan Beganovic will be taking the reins. “As matters stand, Adnan Beganovic will remain as the head coach, and we will then see who we’ll add to our technical team – this interim and what-not [doesn’t matter], a coach is a coach, there’s no ‘interim’,” said Sukazi.
MORE CASH FOR CAF TEAMS
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced an increment in prize money for the teams starting this year.
The new increment sees a 52% rise in the cash prize for all teams who qualified for the 2024 edition to be held in Morocco this month.
CAF first introduced prize money for the competition in 2022 after the inaugural edition, which did not offer cash prizes to the competing teams. In the last two editions, each team walked away with a cash prize of $100,000. While the eventual winners got $400,000.00, the runners-up and semifinalists took home $250,000.00 and $200,000.00 respectively.
With the new increment, each team is assured at least $150,000.00 while the winner is expected to claim $600,000.00 as prize money.
ISRAELI FANS ATTACKED
The mayor of Amsterdam has condemned what she called an “explosion of antisemitism” in the city, during which Israeli football fans came under violent attack from local rioters.
Femke Halsema said youths on scooters had criss-crossed the Dutch capital on Thursday night on the hunt for Israeli supporters in a “hit-and-run”.
The police chief said five fans had been taken to hospital and as many as 30 others had suffered minor injuries. Prosecutors said a total of 62 people were arrested. Eight men and two minors were still in custody on Friday.
Supporters of Israeli club Maccabi Tel Aviv had travelled to Amsterdam for a Europa League match against Ajax which passed off peacefully.
