Actor and director Shona Aaron Ferguson passed away from Covid-related complications at Parklane Hospital in Johannesburg yesterday.
A family statement said the Botswana-born Ferguson reiterated that his death was related to Covid complications, not from a heart operation as reported earlier in the media. The family has requested privacy while they mourn his passing.
The soap heartthrob came into acting later in his life after marrying actor businesswoman, Connie, with whom they owned production company Ferguson Films.
A talented actor, Ferguson came into acting late in his life, and proved a natural actor with a knack to ease into his roles with effortless panache.
His passing has left legions of adoring female fans, who couldn’t get enough of the dream boat, heart-broken.
Some of the roles where he left a lasting impression were in Scandal, Generations, Isidingo, Muvhango, The Wild, Kings of Joburg, The Queen and Rockville. He was also cast in the highly commended film, Mrs Mandela. What was fascinating was the chemistry between the couple, both on and off the camera.
After proving their mettle, Ferguson and the love of his life founded their company Ferguson Films and produced a number of notable productions that left an indelible impression in the television and film industry.
The amiable actor who came to South Africa, saw opportunities and cashed, making a success of his life in a relatively short time. He is survived by his wife and two daughters.
