
Aptly entitled “My World, My Rules, flambouyant businesswoman Shauwn Mkhize launched her book at the Arc Circle exhibition centre in Rosebank this week.
The shindig scheduled for 5pm only got underway more than an hour-and-a-half later – thanks to MaMkhize’s ways with time management.
But its when politicians uncharacteristically show up on time, and still exhibit the civility of exercising their patience minus points of order, then the event should have shades and nuances of service delivery.
Former minister Jeff Radebe, Zizi Kodwa, Gen Bantu Holomisa, and Sihle Zikalala were all in attendance among the 100 or so guests in attendance.
MaMkhize said the book was to dispel the myth that she grew up with a silverspoon in the mouth, but faces ordinary challenges like everyone else.
And while she is swamped with requests of assistance from various quarters of society, she said while her compassion is unlimited, her purse strings are limited.
President Cyril Ramaphosa at the Sefako Makgatho guest house presided over the National Orders – the highest awards that a country, through its President bestows on its citizens and eminent foreign nationals on Thursday.
The President as the fount (holder, cradle, main source) of honour in the country bestows these Orders and Decorations and is assisted by the Director-General in The Presidency, who is the Chancellor of National Orders and an Advisory Council on National Orders, in the execution of this responsibility.
