MPUMALANGA award-winning gospel artist and songwriter Papa Ndu is set to release his inspiring new single Uyinqaba Yam (You are my Fortress) on July 22, across all major streaming platforms.                 

Recorded live at the CTCM Dome in Attredgeville, Tshwane, the song features celebrated gospel minister Takie Ndou, best known for the timeless worship anthem, Imvula Lenkulu.  

More than just a musical collaboration, Uyinqaba Yami, carries a remarkable testimony of God’s power and faithfulness.

Written several years ago, the song declares unwavering confidence in God even in the face of life’s greatest challenges.

Papa Ndu told Weekly SA Mirror that the song’s message became profoundly real on the very day it was recorded.                                           

Said Papa Ndu: “Just five minutes from the venue, Takie Ndou was involved in a devastating head-on collision when a vehicle driven by an alleged drunk driver crossed the median and crashed into his car.

“Although the vehicle was completely wrecked, Takie miraculously escaped without injury.

Instead of allowing the accident to stop him, he was transported to the venue, where he delivered one of the most passionate performances of the evening.

The powerful lyrics ‘noma kuvelani endleleni’ (whatever comes my way) ‘mina angesabi okubi’ (I will not fear) became more than words, they became his personal testimony” said the minister.

The song showcases a rich musical arrangement, dynamic live instrumentation, and an unforgettable vocal exchange between Papa Ndu and Takie Ndou that builds into a powerful declaration of faith. Added Papa Ndu:

“This song reminds us that God’s protection is not just something we sing about- it is something we can experience.

Takie’s testimony gave even greater meaning to this message, and I believe this song will encourage everyone who is facing fear, uncertainty or a difficult season to find refuge in God”.
