An airport hangar in Polokwane will become a meeting place for design and business this October, as the city hosts its inaugural Hotel & Home Design Fair.
Taking place at the T49 Hangar at Polokwane International Airport from October 8 to 10, the exhibition will showcase furniture, textiles, décor, art and hospitality offerings, with more than 60 exhibitors on the programme.
Organised by Gentry Business Enterprise, the fair aims to create a platform in Limpopo where designers, manufacturers and small businesses can meet the people who select and purchase products for residential and hospitality projects.
For participating businesses, the opportunity extends beyond displaying their work. The organisers have placed business connections at the centre of the event, targeting hospitality operators, property developers, architects, interior designers and procurement teams.
The aim is to help small, medium and micro enterprises reach new markets and establish relationships with buyers sourcing products for upcoming projects.
That focus gives the exhibition a practical purpose: bringing creative businesses into direct conversation with potential customers who could incorporate their products into hotels, lodges, homes and commercial interiors.
Among the featured participants is MAXHOSA AFRICA, which will curate the VIP lounge and present pop-up displays. Zwakala Brewery will offer a curated bar experience, while the Azael Langa Foundation and BMW Polokwane also feature in the line-up.
Together with the wider exhibitor programme, these participants will contribute to an event combining design displays, hospitality experiences and opportunities to explore potential business partnerships.
A panel programme led by the Design Institute of South Africa will complement the exhibition. Industry discussions will run alongside opportunities for visitors to explore the stands and continue conversations with exhibitors.
This combination of discussion and direct engagement is intended to give participants space both to exchange ideas and to pursue the commercial possibilities arising from them.
An outdoor food and beer garden will provide a more relaxed setting for refreshments and further conversation during the three-day fair.
For visitors furnishing a home or sourcing for a hospitality development, the exhibition will bring a range of products and participating businesses into one venue.
For smaller suppliers, its value will lie in the introductions made and the relationships developed with prospective buyers.
The fair will open daily from 09:00 to 17:00. Tickets and further event information are available at hotelh.gentry.co.za.
